While we are happy to teach first-timers how to fly fish, we also understand the allure of spin fishing. The great thing is that both fishing styles work well on our section of the Colorado River. We have a variety of lures and techniques at our disposal to catch fish, with our whole day set against the stunning backdrop of Glen Canyon. Many people can say they’ve seen Horseshoe bend from the lookout point, but very few can say they’ve fished it!
Most success for spin fishing our river is comes from ensuring your lures get down deep enough to bounce along the bottom. Long drifts from the boat are generally key to maximizing the odds of catching fish. Spin fishing can be an especially good option for young children, as it requires less focus on casting technique and precision when compared to fly fishing.
